Breathwork
Breathwork refers to a variety of mind-based breathing techniques and exercises that are used intentionally to influence a one's physical, mental, or emotional state. Through focus on Breath we bring what is normally an automatic process under conscious control — guiding the rhythm, depth, and flow of inhalation and exhalation with intention. By shifting the breath from unconscious reflex to deliberate expression, it becomes a therapeutic tool, helping manage stress, anxiety, and emotional discomfort.
Somatic Therapy
Somatic Therapy is a body-based healing modality that recognizes how trauma, stress, and emotion are stored not just in the mind, but throughout the whole body. Complimentary to mind-based modalities and talking therapy, it focuses on awareness of physical sensations — tension, tightness, or holding — and works through them to support healing. By working with the body’s natural intelligence, somatic therapy helps individuals restore safety in their bodies, gradually release stored stress or trauma, and improve capacity, resilience and emotional regulation. Method used at Breathing Space is a form of somatic therapy centered in breath, and includes touch, elements of bodywork, and movement exercises. In this way, the Breath serves not only as a therapeutic ally but as a gateway to deeper layers of experience and transformation.

Thea Eve is a Visiting Somatic Practitioner & Breathwork Specialist of rare skill and presence. With a background in Humanities and Physical Education, Thea was always naturally disposed toward deeper exploration of her own body, mind, and psyche. In 2019, her intuition led her to Bali, where she was fascinated by the abundance of different healing modalities, the purity of nature, and a culturally diverse community, allowing her to settle and find deeper roots, immersing in self-study and reconnecting to her true calling and life’s work. During her journey of personal development, Thea has accumulated invaluable experience and developed a profound understanding of human nature and the inner workings of the body. She has explored a diverse array of therapeutic techniques, discovering the efficacy of a holistic approach and wonders of body-based methods. Thea channels this knowledge into a quintessential form of somatic therapy, helping individuals restore inner peace, harmony, and become in love with themselves, the world and their place in it.

HOW TO PREPARE
PRACTICE SPACE
  • Space Setup
    Location
    Choose a quiet location where we won't be disturbed for the duration of our session. Clear enough floor space for the Breathing Mat, area should be enough for you to lie down comfortably with your arms and legs extended.

    Comfort
    Wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing. Set your room temperature to a comfortable level. Have tissues and drinking water nearby.
    Optional additions for virtual session: eye pillow, blanket for warmth, small pillow or cushion for head support, bolster or rolled towel for knee support if needed.

    Pre-Session
    Try not to eat a heavy meal within 2 hours of our session. Do not intake drugs, alcohol, nor smoke before our session. Use the bathroom before we begin. Switch your phone to silent mode.
  • Technical Setup
    Video Conference
    We'll be using Google Meet or equivalent for our session. You will receive the meeting link prior to our appointment. Make sure your equipment is charged and fully functioning.

    Camera Positioning
    Position your camera so I can clearly see your full torso. This is essential for me to observe your breathing pattern. Ensure your space is well-lit so I can clearly see you.

    Audio Setup
    Wether you are using AirPods, headphones, speaker, mobile phone or a laptop, make sure you can clearly hear both my verbal cues and your background music. I will provide a playlist on Spotify or Soundcloud prior to our session.
